Updates are cached, so it is updated in increments.
Saving db writting resources.
Helpfull for larger communities.
Downside on small communities is that there is a delay in update in count.
Yourforum.com/dba/counts can update
How long is that delay? I went to that link: Yourforum.com/dba/counts and it worked. So I have to do this every time to update? That is highly annoying.
Is this a bug? This is a major thing....
I had the same issue way back. This post from RJ solved it for me:
There is a good discussion about it here: https://open.vanillaforums.com/discussion/35885/post-count-not-updating/p1
But you need to contact your hoster for that, I guess. mysqlnd is needed: https://github.com/vanilla/vanilla/issues/7770
Vanilla needs the PHP extension mysqlnd. Depending on what your host offer you may be able to enable it yourself from the host Dashboard, then look for PHP settings or PHP extensions. If you’re not able to set PHP extensions yourself you’ll need to contact your host and ask them to do it for you. Hope this helps
mysqlnd is enabled on my web hosting.
What else could be wrong?
I’ll check what extensions I got once I’m home and we can see if more are needed.
Here's the extensions I'm using.
Make sure you got:
mysqlnd, nd_mysqli and nd_pdo_mysql
