Todays woot is something I actually wanted. I've been subscribed to the RSS feed for a while but never actually bought anything. It's only now that I find out they don't ship outside of the USA. I couldn't even see a proper explanation as to why not. Fuckers.
Jazzman: There are but this was a good price with features that I liked. My current DVD player is about 3/4 years old and starting to make a noise when playing DVDs. I can't afford to build a Media PC so this seemed the best option.
WallPhone: Toshibas are supposedly pretty easy to make multi-region. My parents Toshiba was made multi-region too so it worked there. Most of my DVDs are Region 1 anyway. Also; it seems that most UK TVs bought within the last 10 years do NTSC. Only the really cheap ones skimp there.
I have a Voxson, nothing fancy but works a treat, plays all regions, VCD, MP3... it plays everything I throw at it.
I gave up buying top-of-the-range appliances years ago, realising I was throwing money away buying the "good" stuff.
A friend has a $700 unit, it spits out every second MP3 disc, balks at non-region-4 DVDs and when it does work, I don't see any difference in the picture or sound quality.

In Woot's case, they probably don't want to pay international shipping or deal with higher difficulty in checking for fraud.
