Sporadic "internal error or misconfiguration" errors.

We are getting sporadic error pop-ups when in the discussion view. Like this:

Any ideas on what could be wrong or how to fix/troubleshoot?

It's on shared hosting. So, I'm not sure if I have access to the server error logs.

    I posted this on git too in case that is the better place.

    I think I may have found the cause: mod_security triggers false positives for SQL Injection attempts from the way Vanilla comments are formatted (lots of forward slashes :D ).

    Has anyone else run into this and found a solution? (I can't adjust mod_security because it's shared hosting.)
