Hundreds of registration emails being received

Hi, I have version 2.1.10 and for the last two days I’m receiving hundreds of emails that are registration requests. However, there are no users waiting in the dashboard, and this amount is highly unusual. Has anyone else experienced this?

Version 2.1.10 is from 2015!

What I'd consider:
Which registration method is used.
Any plugins like StopForumSpam, Akismet, recaptcha which affect registrations
