Open PDF in browser instead of download?
nathanreed
New
Way back in the days of earlier vanilla, there was a way (or maybe it did it natively) to open PDFs in the browser instead of downloading them. Is there some change I can make to enable this behavior?
Version 2021.009
Thanks!

AFAIK it is not forceable (not a Vanilla Forum limitation) as it depend on browser settings.
Some info here https://superuser.com/a/1277820
(if you search for it there are several mentions of the same)
Have you tried this plugin?

I did check out the plugin; wasn't sure if it would work with 2021.009. Also, was kinda hoping not to necessarily show the content of the pdf inline, but rather to just open in the browser. Reading the link you referenced, it seems someone could figure out some way to implement that behavior in Vanilla (not me, unfortunately; still don't have the chops to tinker with something like that).
Thanks for the reply! Will keep looking (and maybe someone else will have something?).
I guess it depends on your browser. Let me test something...
Yes, I know it's in German but you might recognize that dialogue:
It's "Open with Firefox", "Open with..." and "Save File".
You need to search the net for how to configure how file types are handled in your preferred browser: https://www.ecosia.org/search?tt=mzl&q=firefox+how+to+change+pdf+behaviour
" it seems someone could figure out some way to implement that behavior in Vanilla"
Would not help if each users/members it not set to open instead of download.
