Custom theming help version 2021.009 Non-Vanilla hosted

Hello Vanilla Community,

I am currently attempting add a custom theme to my Vanilla forum but I'm having trouble confirming the correct way to do it.

What I've currently done was made a copy of the Foundation theme and made edits to the variable.neon file in the assets folder. The full file path location is /var/www/Vanilla/package/addons/themes. This seems to work for the most part but what I'm seeing when I apply the theme are some issues with css. Specifically some of the category images become large than normal and the "About" section on my user profile loses some styling.

I'll attach images to better show of the behavior I am seeing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I just realized I didn't actually state what I was trying to accomplish. I'm simply trying to add additional navigation links to the top menu bar of the forum and change it's color.
