Offload user uploads to cloud (S3 buckets)?

Hi,

my shared hosting bill is exploding some day because of all the screenshots people upload :) We're above 2GB as of today with 2 forums.

Does anyone here use S3 or another cheap cloud storage to offload user uploads?

I found this from 2016 where someone mounted S3 buckets into the local file system of the forum software: https://open.vanillaforums.com/discussion/comment/245402

I'm not sure if I have the privileges to set this up, yet, but aliasing the uploads folder to S3 would be ok for me.
