    Open up that file and post the contents (minus any sensitive information) into this discussion.

    It will be quite obvious (to us at least) what you need to do to fix the problem.
  • Looking at http://www.mobsterbb.de/settings.txt, it looks like you've used the announcements extension and added linebreaks in your extension, which makes the settings.php file break.

    Change $Configuration['ANNOUNCE_MESSAGE'] = 'The original Mobsterbb Gangster\'s Discussion Room! Talk about Mafia and Organized Crime!'; Talk about Mafia and Organized Crime!'; into
    $Configuration['ANNOUNCE_MESSAGE'] = 'The original Mobsterbb Gangster\'s Discussion Room! Talk about Mafia and Organized Crime!';

    And I think things should be working better. At least, looking at the Announcements extension discussion that seems to be the recommended fix in a situation like this.
  • i must say, i really like the phrase "i am despairing of this errors"

    @ ithcy
    i am german, so i am not so familiar with the english grammar and vocabulary, sry

    @ bjrn

    i have already done this by myself but i still get the same error

    copy my settings.php (from http://www.mobsterbb.de/settings.txt) into your favor php.editor and then use "DEBUG" (if available) and you will see! the error is not gone

    Edit

    it was another error. Your and my first solution was right!

    By ftp i had to delete settings.php first and then upload the changed settings.php.
    I always had just overwritten the settings.php. And my ftp Programs says "critical Transfer", when uploading only the settings.php ....
    I exactly don't know what causes the problem, that the ftp programs were not able to overwrite the settings.php.

    Anyway i am going to delete the extension (Announcment Message) until there will be a fixed version, that allows html without crashing the forum
