Vanilla is sweet

edited October 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Installed Vanilla a couple of days ago and couldn't believe how incredibly simple it was...and the extensions are marrrrvelous. Hats off to Mark O' Sullivan and his crew. I did however experience a slight bug in the application. When testing the password-reset feature located on the Logon screen, I received an email (as expected). I then clicked the link provided in the email and was directed to the Vanilla logon page (as expected); however the page was partially filled with garbled text that was annoying to look at and cumbersome to get around. The reset feature works, but what's with all that garbled text? I haven't taken the time to check the bug list, since it's not a big concern right now, but I expect it will be in the near future. Anyway, this software is the daddy!

    It sounds like your ftp program messed up when you uploaded the vanilla files. I'd try re-uploading everything except the conf folder and your extensions folder.
  • The title got my attention ... vanilla isn't sweet without sugar .. in fact it is bitter if eat the raw vanillin....
  • so is chocholate...but nobody thinks about the sugar that makes it sweet :-)
  • Mark, Is there a specific file/s I can check, rather than go through the download and install process?

    I didn't say that you should download and install. I said to try "re-uploading everything except the conf folder and your extensions folder". You don't need to re-install, just re-upload. All of the configuration settings are in the conf folder (which is why I say not to re-copy that folder) and all of the extensions you've installed are in the extensions folder (which is why I say not to re-copy that folder). Your database will remain intact - all you have to do is upload all of the other files again.

    I can't tell which specific file is causing your problems based on that error.
  • The problem is not on my end...see for yourself: http://lussumo.com/community/people/?PostBackAction=PasswordResetForm&u=3680&k=cbc6873581389b3c9cd7484d74bcc820

    Looks like somebody is using IE6. Its a CSS glitch with Internet Explorer. http://lussumo.com/community/discussion/3147/

    My guess the best fix would be to edit the CSS like this, around line 103 in people.css.

    .About { margin: 8px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 0px 4px 0px 8px; width: 260px; xborder-right: 1px solid #f3f3f3; } .Apply .About { position: absolute; }

    xborder-right?
  • that took care of it...mucho gracias
