so I've had a nice and functional v1.0 install for a while now, but just today I decided to upgrade to 1.01. the readme file told me, unfortunately, that I just had to overwrite the old files and I'd be done. according to the upgrade instructions on the website, this isn't exactly true. fortunately I had the foresight to make a backup of the old install, and got it done, but now I'm having all sorts of weird problems: extensions won't turn on or off because PHP says it doesn't have write permission to the extensions folder... but I've since re-chmoded it with no apparent result file uploads are also not working... Warning: move_uploaded_file(/home/.mumford/sigma3/begumlives.com/v1/uploads/105109.aldridge_underwater.jpg): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/.mumford/sigma3/begumlives.com/v1/library/Framework/Framework.Class.Uploader.php on line 90 Warning: move_uploaded_file(): Unable to move '/tmp/phpD6xNfh' to '/home/.mumford/sigma3/begumlives.com/v1/uploads/105109.aldridge_underwater.jpg' in /home/.mumford/sigma3/begumlives.com/v1/library/Framework/Framework.Class.Uploader.php on line 90 Notice: Undefined index: ATTACHMENT_CHMOD in /home/.mumford/sigma3/begumlives.com/v1/extensions/Attachments/default.php on line 166 but again, I've changed the whole uploads folder to be 777! wtf, mates?

I've heard of some people having luck by doing this: 1. Back up your files. 2. Mysqldump your database. 3. Erase all tables in your database and do a fresh install. 4. Re-load your database from the dump file. 5. Re-copy your extensions and conf folders up to the fresh install.
  • That's like, 3 steps and one database dump more than I was hoping for. Isn't there like a magic wand or some shit that we can use instead?
