Wordpress Integration: What if Wordpress and Vanilla are on separate domains?

edited November 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Do you think it's still possible/safe to try and integrate them if they're on separate domains, instead of in the same folder as detailed in Mark's guide? Of course they will still use the same database. I'm still new to coding and stuff, so help appreciated as always dudes and dudettes! ~Vox.

  • Probably. You could also install them both on both domains & then just shut down one or either on each domain.

Well, the situation is, I have a Vanilla forum at http://lobby.psuni.org and the news part of the site (Wordpress) at http://psuni.org - And I'm interested in combining user data for them both. But before I give it a try, I'd like an expert opinion. Because you know, I'm a n00b and stuff.
  • If it's just a subdomain rather than two completely different domains, set the cookie to '.psuni.org' and it ought to work just fine.
  • It's 2 seperate domains. The forum isn't a subdomain of the blog. BTW, I'm Voxie's Admin on her forum.
  • Actually Stevo.. lobby.psuni.org is a subdomain of psuni.org ^^ I'm going to give it a try, thank you bshultz.
  • it is, ok, what ever
