Show Predefined Attribute next to username

I'd like to have a predefined attribute that shows up (discreetely, perhaps in light gray) next to a username or in a hovering box when the mouse hovers over a username. Does anyone have an idea how to achieve this?

    On further though, the box that shows up could just be a normal alt= text. Might make things easier?
