change background colour

How do I change the default background colour ? I've just installed Vanilla but can't make head nor tail of all the colour codes.

if you go into the themes > vanilla >styles > default folder you can open up the vanilla.css file and edit the colors in there, I suggest you just create a new folder in the styles folder if you're altering anything though, so then if you mess up you still have the default style to go back on.
