Posting pictures from flickr

edited May 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
This is a test to make sure picture posting from flickr is possible. I'm pretty sure it is but would like to see what a small image does to the CSS here.

Looks great. I love the look and feel of vanilla and undoubtedly will be using it at some point.

For those of you who don't use flickr, it's very simple to post any public picture you find there anywhere and flickr "absorbes" the bandwidth hit when a user wants to see a larger, higher resolution image.

  • An interesting idea would be to make an extension that lists your Flickr images on the user panel and by clicking them it inserts them into your post.
  • that's a cool idea!
  • Flickr's API makes it incredibly easy, if I get some spare time sometime soon I might give it a shot.
  • go flickr, go flickr, go flickr
  • Love that idea :D
  • I'm pretty sure that flickr absorbs most if not all of the bandwidth hit as well and that's why I host pictures in my account there that I use in my wordpress weblog. Might be nice to look into a nice way to interact with the flickr community, which, by the way, is a fantastic community. There are lots of weblog plugins for flickr and my guess is they'd work just fine here. Something to ponder in case one wanted to use this for a "photo community."

Oh, is it possible yet to get a feed for a single thread here? Will it be? I thought I'd like to track this thread to see what great ideas you all come up with.
  • Not yet.. soon...
  • oh man, cant wait for that.
  • You may want to check http://phpflickr.com/ out as well. I've been waiting for extensions to be documented before moving further because I'm still learning PHP, but thats where I was going to start from.
  • Does this mean we can just post the link to the html page that contains our flickr photo, within our vanilla post, and it'll strip out all the html and leave the image when we view the discussion? All this without any addons to vanilla?
