probation addon to suspend a user for a given amount of time etc..

    This would be a nice addition, I agree. More generally speaking: an extension that would set a user's role to A for N amount of time.

    Could be handy in other circumstances too -- can't think of anything else where you'd need temporary role status, but I bet there are.
