Admin Registration of Members

edited December 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I'm sure I must be having a senior moment or three, but why can't I find discussions which explain why admins shouldn't be given an extension to register members directly? Or is there such an extension?

  • If you know their details you can just reg them using the default registration functions can't you?
  • I think he means without logging out though. It wouldnt be difficult to do, at all, it just hasnt been done yet.
  • You don't have to log out to register new members. Just go to /people.php?PostBackAction=ApplyForm

    If you have the email and the rest of the info, then sign them up. What I do is I insert my email address for the account, then apply. Go back to the accounts page, approve them, change their role, then change their information with the right email address. Its saves them from getting 3 emails. Instead, you can set them up, and then send them an email if you'd like.
  • Yes, I mean without logging out.

    @Garvin - thanks! Interesting, though a bit of a pain ...

    Seems like it would be a very useful extension. I simply have got to move hacking around in php higher on the personal to-do list. It's not a lack of desire but a life that has 70 hours of fun but challenging responsibilities before getting to that. SIgh. Perhaps a skilled developer with the same requirement will pick it up.
  • The AddMember extension allows users with the correct role permission to add a new member from the 'Account' page.
