Huge issue!

I had phpbb until I browsed un this website and got inlove with vanilla. My biggest problem among others is: how do I make my categories available for logged in members only? If I make this basd on roles, the category vanishes completely to anon. users. I need it visible but unavailable for visitors, for example if you're not logged in, the login page should appear. This is a very important feature if you wanna win memberships and I do. Thank you.

it should be able to be done easiy with an extension.

pseudo code:
If ($postbackaction=categories.php && user id > 0){
echo 'and html redirect to people.php
}
