Sidebar & Poll Question

Hi all, I installed the Sidepanel 1.0 extension and enabled it but can't see it anywhere. Where should I be looking for? Also on another account, I enabled the poll extension but it's only showing on registered member pages and not publicaly accessible on the home page. Any clues? Thanks, Dada
