Image Upload - Pictures Don't Load

edited January 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I have thickbox working and it works great from my PC/Firefox machine. I have another PC user that has had no problems. I have a member that cannot upload from a MAC environment. I was on the phone with him and he is doing everything correctly. Permissions are all OK. He can see other images. I can edit his post to add images to it. Sorry this is a bit of a ramble, just trying to add everything that might be relevant. The only thing that I can think is that "gasp" he is on dialup and it is just taking a really long time to get pics to the server. They are not large files 128K or so and he tried to upload just 1, but still.... I don't speak MAC, so if anybody has some ideas that we could try I would appreciate it.

  • How long would it normally take him to upload a 128K file? Rough maths tells me it'd be about 5kB/s so it aught to be about 30 seconds? Try checking the timeout value on your php configuration (2 minutes by default, i believe). Also what happens when he tries to upload (blank screen etc?) and if something noticable does happen how long is it before it happens? Why's he on dialup?!
  • When I finally get around to getting my Mac Mini online I should really check some of my extensions out on Safari...
  • When he emails something it takes a couple of minutes and he has a progress thing that shows when it is done. He has never done any sort of upload other than via email... I'll ask the blank screen thing today. RE: dialup, apparently rural Vermont is still in the stone age...apologies to any cave men reading this...
  • What are the chances of some kind of upload progress indicator for the attachments extension?
  • Well, I'm fairly sure that I have a unique user. For my personal use it would not be all that valuable as pics are uploaded almost instantly.
