Is there a way to make tags required for discussion started by OP?

I have the tag extension installed and I want to get my users in the habit of using tags. How do I make the tag field a required field?

    anyone have any ideas about this? I'd just like to be able to force users to use tags on the first post.

    This is a good idea, I'd also like to know if there's a way to do this.

    anyone have any insight into this? seems like it might be quick and easy to make that a default field once the extension is activated.
