Default stylesheet -- bug?

I have a custom style applied to all users. But I noticed yesterday that, if I sign up as a new user, I get the default stylesheet.
The only way to fix it was to apply the custom style to all users again, as I did when I first set up the forum.

Do I really have to do this every time someone new signs up?

replace vanilla's default files with yours and move vanilla's default styles files to a new folder
