edited February 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hello All, Just wondered if there are any tutorials/posts on how to drop the forum into an existing page? I have searched but am having limited luck. Thanks :) Mike

What's your ability in PHP/CSS? Some of it depends what your site's layout and colour scheme is like. If it's a white background you won't need to do as much work.

I just wrote a simple extension to include the site's header file at the top of the page. That worked fine but the problem is you will have two body and html tags, so code wise it's a bit messy. I didn't really want to touch the Vanilla theme or make a different version of my site's header for the forum. The second issue is the Vanilla stylesheet needed lots of customisation and it's fairly lengthy. I think both will have to be edited for most sites..
  • Are you using WordPress?
  • yeah i am, - that is next on the list I have tried starting with the dizzy theme and fitting it in! My PHP skills, i think, are fairly advanced Mike
  • this is where i am at so far!! http://www.organiclinker.com/forum/ and here is the main site http://www.organiclinker.com getting there slowly - need to simply add the menu and we are pretty much there for now!!
  • Looks very nice.
  • I just added a Page in which I have the forum. It really doesn't fit, but it is an alternative. You can see it at http://www.jwurster.us/wordpress/. I really like what you have done. It doesn't look like you need any help.
  • thanks for the comments! How/Where would i add an ssi to include the menu file i have? just under the logo - as seen on the maon site? thanks again
  • Maybe you could look at StuffDisplayer. It allows you to add things relevant to the header.
