Using own user system

edited July 2005 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I need a forum for a site I'm making, at the moment I'm dithering between making my own and using a pre-built one. Vanilla looks ace, but my site already has a user system and I'd prefer to have users login once for the forum and the main site. How easy would this be to modify Vanilla to use my own user database/system?

  • You could have two login systems, your custom one would create users and add them to your database and also to the Vanilla database (simple SQL). Then, build your system to set the same cookies as your forum, with the same parameters and names...your own system would check for cookies & sessions to see if the user is logged in or not, and so would Vanilla. Not too hard... M.

this has been discussed quite a bit, and it probably won't be tackled for a while. But it is definitely in the pipe.
