embed system into website - iframe best way?

edited February 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I've been looking at ways to easily run my news page and get RSS feed out of it (since i now hand-code my site) - vanilla seems to be the perfect thing for this as i can set it to registering, guests leave comments, and get a rss feed out of it - perfect package. the big question, how hard is it to embed the system into my site - would using iframes be easiest? i'd prefer to keep it going with the theme i already have which is why i am curious if anyone has used vanilla inside of frames before. i know there is the whole WP integration, but i'm not running wordpress and can't really find anything relevant to what i'm looking at trying to do. any suggestions are greatly welcome - i'm going to try to tinker around a little bit at this idea i've got going but if someone knows the best way, i'm more than willing to learn ^_^

  • I'd only use Iframes as a last resort, they look horrible and there are usability issues.

What you need to do is modify the Vanilla theme and style to include your site's header and footer and your own CSS.
  • .. thanks - yea i'd rather not use iframes . . . i'll have to see what i can do *and break lol* ^_^ i figure i can always replace files i break. i guess my biggest thing was keeping my top menu nav on the vanilla page - ;-p *i'm still learning. . . . a lot*
