Most suitable forum package for kids

Hi to all, Just writing in to ask for a bit of advice. I've been set to create a discussion board for kid's hospital website. The client obviously wants it to safe for kids to use and has some requirements, some of which are overly strict. * Instant swear filters * Pre-specified avatars that the users can select on signup * All posts must be approved by an administrator before appearing on the site, including all comments to posts. The last request, I think, makes a discussion board pretty ineffective but it's what they want. I'm looking into Vanilla and phpBB as well. Has anyone got any suggestions? Many thanks, Ben

  • Vanilla doesn't the 3 things u mentioned don't use phpbb. it bloatware try punbb or smf
  • +1 for PunBB

Vanilla's fantastic, but can't do the three things you mentioned, pretty much what he said ^ :P
  • PunBB looks absolutely perfect for it. Thanks for the heads up. :)

The downside of punBB is that it lacks Vanilla's accessibility of having all the threads on the first page. I think having to click into a category first is quite old fashioned and isn't as easy for kids. This is the only downside mind.
  • Perhaps we should get those three things as extensions as I'd imagine they're going to be wanted by more than one person.

I think we need a system on this site where someone can put in an extension request and that other people can just vote YES and NO to so that we get an idea as to how many people want it. Then extension authors looking for something to do (har har) can take a look at hte list and see what's most wanted?

once Firefox addons page is online and its verified that its vanilla framework being used, that should bring Vanilla lot of attention and an influx of developers.

the Addon request category is where we already have the requests
we don't have a way to vote for the extensions.

we can add a page to the wiki, but then again we don't want to duplicate the Addons Request Category. Everyone has access to the wiki and it will be turned into a forum and ruined. If the wiki is restricted then only most popular addon requests can be added. Only if people are really dieing to have them.
