Web-based Image management software

This isn't a question about the Vanilla software but something some of you will have come across. I've got a homemade CMS to manage my articles, but my handling of images is fairly basic using an upload form. Cropping, resizing and general management are done via Photoshop so creating images for articles is a lengthy process. It'd be nice to integrate image management things without coding it all myself. Is there any web-based open source PHP software you recommend for uploading/resizing? I've taken a quick look at FileBrowser but it *seems* to be for viewing rather than managing the upload, resizing and cropping of images.

  • You should check to see what your host has available. I use Picasa2 on my pc. I have used Coppermine on a server.

Coppermine looks like the kind of thing I did myself. Ideally I'd like it easy for non-technical people to: - upload an image (from url or desktop) - crop - resize I'm primarily concerned with getting formatted images onto the server, having viewing options is optional.
  • Check out gallery 2. I think they have plugins that allow you to upload directly from Windows Explorer and other programs. Bit of a bind to setup initially (to many options) but can run really nicely when it's up and running.
