Hide discussion/change account name

I know that I hid some discussions before, but now I can only close or delete them. Have I gone crazy? I'd like to hide them so that I have a record of what was said. Also, I have had the problem of some people registering with inappropriate screennames. Is there a way for me the CHANGE the screenname to something else without removing all the posts the person made?

  • Delete still functions like the old hide. Its name (not function) was changed to appease all the delete requests by admins. You can still 'view deleted comments' or 'view deleted discussions' in your account preferences. You can change screenames by going to the profile and editing the user's profile just as if it were your own. Just be sure to notify them (email listed in the same place) of the change because the old one won't work when they next try to sign in! (assuming the correct Master Admin permissions for all the above)
  • Thanks WallPhone. When I go to user profile, the screenname does NOT appear in any fields. In fact, it doesn't appear anywhere on the page. Their REAL name does, but nothing else.
  • Not even 'Username'? In that case you might need to turn on the ability to change in the application settings screen.
  • While viewing the profile, there should be a 'change personal information' link in the panel...
  • Yes, there is. But there's no field on that page for the screenname and, in fact, the screenname doesn't even appear anywhere at all.
  • Ah, minisweep, I'll try that.
  • That worked, thanks all!
