How large can Vanilla get?

I'm not having much luck with the search for this issue but I am wondering how large a community Vanilla can service. Of course it's all dependent on the hardware and the activity of users but I would be interested if anyone has any ball park figures? (in terms of number of users presuming that each is highly active)
