browsing history

edited January 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
can someone explain to me what the show all link under the "browsing history panel option list thinger" is actually intended to do, and why it throws an error if you click it when you're looking at a thread?

  • That is a really, really good question.
  • looks like a bug to me.
  • smells like a bug. someone get mark over here so he can taste it, and make sure.
  • i added this to the bugs page in the docs. http://lussumo.com/docs/doku.php?id=vanilla:bugs
  • excellent. so, what is the show all button supposed to actually do?
  • go to the discussion listing page, and click it. it just lists all the discussions that you have browsed since your login.
  • i really can't see the difference. that's what i assumed it would do, but haven't really been able to tell because i've literally just been hanging out here all day. my job is 80% waiting for the phone to ring, so...
  • ya it's hard to see any kind of difference unless you look really closely.
  • it should list things in order since you started browsing. I think this feature is probably best used towards bookmarks though.

i thought it was supposed to "Show all" of "Your discussions" if the admin has set a small limit to show in the sidebar?

This would "Show all" of "Your discussions".. makes sense that I would think that?

"Your discussions" and "Your browsing history" are two different things - both of which I think are self explanatory.
  • and both of which have this bug when clicking "show all" :(

I've decided to not do any more bugfixes until the documentation is finished. I added two new pages last night, btw. *hides*
  • LOL, i added this bug to the wikki page.
  • yeah but "show all" is at the bottom of "Your bookmarks" - it says nothing about Browsing History anywhere.

    confused..

  • you have to go into your accounts settings -> forum preferences and turn on the browsing history control panel list.
  • MARK RULES i absolutely support your decision to do the documentation first. absolutely.
  • ok but if you don't, then you see my (or anyone's) confusion..
  • ok ok i see your point
  • True...but you would have never heard about browsing history if you weren't trying to follow this discussion (a support discussion). So it would follow that a normal user on a vanilla board about non-vanilla topics wouldn't be confused by it.

    I think.
