Changing user passwords

edited March 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I have a user who wants to change his password and the password reset function lets him submit a reset... but it's telling him that the new password is incorrect.

#1... what gives

#2... can I manually assign him a new one somehow?

  • Just go to the login screen and click on "Forgot your password?" to have it reset.

Are you sure it says "the NEW password" is incorrect?

In which case he didn't type it in the same way twice.

  • According to his emails to me, the password he entered when asked to reset his password was accepted by the system but when he went to login, he was told his password was incorrect.
  • you can manually do it yes. access the sql database.. probably : phpmyadmin.yourdomain.com
then access the correct database (you probably set this on install) and the table : LUM_User

in the password field type in his new password and remember, and this is important, on the drop down meny Function, select MD5. This will encode his password. Send it to him on a mail and tell him to change it when he loggs inn.
