RSS2 Extension issue

edited February 2008 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hi all, I'm trying to use the RSS2 addon in my forums (naturally) and for me its only half working. I can get RSS feeds for each of the individual discussion topics, e.g. http://forums.fatloaf.com/discussion/816/cricket-world-cup/?Feed=RSS2 , but it won't work similarly for the overall RSS feed ala: http://forums.fatloaf.com/discussions/?Feed=RSS2 So my question is this, where could the problem lie? The addon clearly works so its not to do with the programming, could it be the .htaccess file? I'm using the default one that comes with the latest FriendlyURLs addition, is there anything that needs to be put in there as well to handle the RSS extension? I'm at a loss as to see where the problem exists. Cheers for any assistance.

  • So there is noone out there who uses Vanilla who can offer any kind of support, information, ideas or even light humour regarding my problem?
  • well i have never used rss2 nor friendly urls, but i am sure there is someone here can help. ok well there some extremely light nhumor, ...or not?
  • cheers y2kbg for the response, I did find someone who figured out what the problem was, me.

After recreating the forums and trying to break different parts of the db it came to nothing. I then tried the load order of the extensions and narrowed it down to two problem extensions (for me at least anyway):
    - RelNoFollow
    - Poll 1.3

With Poll 1.3 it caused the problem labelled above where it wouldn't load the RSS page, it would just refresh the main page instead. With the RelNoFollow extension it spat back an error:

XML Parsing Error: junk after document element Location: http://forums.fatloaf.com/discussions/?Feed=RSS2 Line Number 2, Column 1:<b>Notice</b>: Undefined property: AuthRoleID in <b>/home/fatloaf/public_html/forums/extensions/RelNoFollow/default.php</b> on line <b>23</b><br />

Bare in mind that these are my experiences with the combination of extensions, if someone else is using RSS2 and RelNoFollow without problems I'd like to hear about it, same with the Poll extension.
  • Same here. Poll 1.3 breaks RSS2 and Atom feeds. Also disabled friendly URLs but this did not help. Any hints?
