"Start a new discussion" tab

edited April 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
is there any way to *force* vanilla to create a tab for the "start a new discussion" option, so that it appears in the tab bar, allowing the one in the panel to be hidden via css? the style i'm fiddling around with would benefit from this.

thanks in advance:)

  • just use page manager and add a tab that has the new disscussion link href as the url for the tab

wouldn't that then give me two "new discussion" tabs, one from page manager, one from the quick-keys extension? that's how it's looking now, but maybe i can css it into submission.
  • well, it's not the most elegant solution (having two "start a new discussion" entries under page management doesn't sit well with me, and i'm not sure if that's a good thing for vanilla) but it seems to work for now, at least

if anybody knows how i can just force this via an extension, so that it's always a tab (through the addtab method, perhaps? i'm no coder, so i was quickly lost) and could let me know, i'd appreciate it

not even sure if that's any different from what i just did, it just feels less hacky to me

also - is tab identifier really insignificant? it used to read "post" but now it's just taken on the actual text of the tab itself. this of course was after i had three "start a new discussion" tabs going on from all the trial and error, it was pretty comical:)
  • One tab (the existing one) LISTS the discussions.
The new one you made should START a new discussion with this link...

You should name it "Start Discussion" or similar.

  • @Wandered - my page manager list already had a "start new discussion" tab, i am assuming this is because quick keys added it in for me in the first place
