Some questions

edited April 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hi guys, I have installed a fresh copy of Vanilla forums on Dreamhost, and I am experiencing the old utf incompatibility problems. The characters like "š, đ, č, ć and ž" don't show up. The database is utf8, the connection is utf8, and all I did to Vanilla files is unpack and uploaded them via filezilla. When I comment out the particular line as suggested in this thread I get the characters to display, but then xhtml documents that are served are not utf (so says the validator). I really don't know what to do here.

The second thing I want to know is how can I add more items to the menu at the top (like here: Discussions, Categroies, Search, etc.)? Does it have to be php or can I just add it in html?
