Vanilla Copyright Notice

edited April 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hi there, We're currently developing a site for a client that would like to use the 'Vanilla' product but not display the Vanilla Copyright notice that appears in the left hand column; "Vanilla 1.1.2 is a product of Lussumo. More Information: Documentation, Community Support. Installed Add-ons." Can anyone tell me what Lussmo's requirements are? They are happy for any 'code' comments to be left in but would prefer not to have to show this message on the actual forum. Can we do this? Kind regards SHACK

    $Panel->AddString($Context->GetDefinition('PanelFooter'), 500);
    Comment it out

    plus u should look at other way to credit vanilla. not just take it out and never mention it anywhere

    Well, technically that line of text in the panel is not a copyright notice. Vanilla is open source, so the license that comes with Vanilla clearly states your rights and responsibilities. However, this issue of giving credit to Lussumo has been discussed here before. You can read more about it here: http://lussumo.com/community/discussion/2789/ The responsible thing to do is to give Lussumo credit. Keep in mind that there are other ways to give credit to Lussumo on your site even if you remove the text in the left-hand panel. For instance, you can create a "credit" page (accessible from the footer of your site) that briefly explains that your site is powered by Lussumo's Vanilla software.
