Meebo Integration

edited April 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Ok. Complete wish here as I can't find any documentation of where to begin on the Meebo site. If you are not familiar, Meebo allows you to log into various IM programs without having to download the program. If you set up for a Meebo account, you can sign into as many accounts/programs as you want with just the one username/password (once you set it up). And, what they also do is create a "Meebo Me" widget that you can use on your site and it basically will allow you to be able to communicate back and forth with people visiting their website. They just enter in their name and then can start chatting with you. It'll pop up on your side and so on and so forth.

Its very cool and I use it more frequently then gaim, because I can access it anywhere (including my wife's laptop as she doesn't permit me to download/install anything. *sigh*).

So, with that said, this is what I'd like to see: the ability for the username to be pulled from whatever user account that the person is logged in to. We have a members-only support forum, so they have to log in to even see the link to this chat area. Instead of writing their name in, it would be super sweet if it would pull it from the database some how.

How possible is this?

problem being that Vanilla isn't ajaxfied.
the whole page reloads when ever u click on any link and the meebo widgets reloads as well. (just tried it to confirm it)
Meebo inside netvibes or MS live works fine

Meebo has to provide an API, to be able to communicate with meebo, which they don't. So once u pull the usernames from the database, there is no way to get it inside meebo
