Hiccup while making a theme

I was wondering if someone could help me find the culprit behind a bug I'm experiencing while making a Vanilla theme. Everything seems to render correctly upon clicking a dicussion link unless it's [Sticky] or [Private]. If you click a link that has either of these labels the #content of the page renders blank. Header, footer, panel; all visible. It's just the actual content of the document that is nowhere to be seen. Any ideas?
