How to remove template/style edit I done earlier?

Hi guys,

Some time back I done added the following:-
- welcome guest login
- banner placment

image

manually by editing one of the files (or so I think).

The problem is that I now want to remove this change but I can't remember what file I must have edited. Do you have any ideas as to what one it would have been?

  • Well, first check that it isn't one or two extensions. Otherwise I'd ftp to the server, and see the dates when the files in the /themes directory (and immediate subdirectories) were last changed.

The easiest fix would probably be to download Vanilla again, and upload "clean" files, but that only works if you haven't made more changes somewhere without knowing precisely where.
  • It's definately not an extention. Checking the dates won't be possible for me as I've recently just moved server & had to re-upload everything (so creation/edit dates are to when I uploaded).

It sure looks like the guestsense extension.

If it isin't, one thing you could do is just re-upload everything in the themes folder.

After that, every file you change should first be copied into the themes/vanilla folder--as Vanilla looks in that folder first for the theme file, then defaults to the themes folder if its not in the vanilla folder. This makes it easier to not only see which files you updated, but also keep custom changes when Vanilla is updated.
  • Yep looks like guestsense. I just updated guestsence and now it's in the 'notice' format. Before it used to be in the panel. I noticed that and there were to of them & i'm now trying to remove my own little edit that I done.
