Multiple communities within a single domain with central login

hey everyone, i haven't even downloaded vanilla yet, but the idea is that whatever tool i chosse needs to be able to have separate communities and their own categories and discussions. log-in should also be shared, meaning that users from, let's say 'marketing', could also post and participate in the 'sales' and 'hr' communities. how would it go about doing something like this in vanilla? ... then, within each community i would have separate categories: (several discussions within this topic/subject) ... (several discussions within this topic/subject) ... (several discussions within this topic/subject) ... thanks beforehand!

That should definitely be possible. Have a quick search - there have been other debates on here recently about running 2 or more forums off one userbase. It will take a bit of work on your behalf but it should by no means be difficult.

This is the topic: It is built in--kinda. You just have to jump through renaming tables and editing a few configuration files. As Vincent notes at the bottom, it might be easier just to edit the installer script. Haven't tried, so don't forget to backup!
