Attachments category permission

Am I missing this or does this not exist - The ability to limit Attachments to particular Categories. I've been trying to devise a logical way to have an image gallery within Vanilla. I realize I can merge tables with another application but ideally I think everything (including new image/upload notification) should take place within Vanilla. Let me know if I'm missing something and this does exist.

    you will have to use javascript to hide the attachment if the category is not allowed.

    can we create and publish an Attachments extension with a Hide Category tickbox / checkbox ?
