user request for their lost log/pass

edited June 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hello, First I have to say that I totally dig Vanilla! Thank you Mark and everyone here. I am a quasi-geek volunteer admin for the Surfrider Foundation's Portland, Oregon chapter. We set up our board in order to improve communication and become more nimble as a volunteer driven entity. This morning a user emailed me to request her log/pass which she'd forgotten. My quick fix solution after perusing the discussions was to visit the database, delete the user and have said user re-register. This worked fine and the user is up and running again. The user's old posts are orphaned, I think, though that's no biggie. My question is this: Is deletion from the database and re-registration the best way to fix the "my dog spot ate my log/pass" problem? Thanks, Michael

  • I'm assuming from your description that they knew their username...so why not just use the http://www.lussumo.com/community/people.php?PostBackAction=PasswordRequestForm ?

That works. Thanks! I'll try that next time and/or be more patient searching the boards. What if a user has forgotten both their log and pass?
