GoDaddy free hosting + FCKeditor = trouble?!

edited June 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Currently I am using GoDaddy's free hosting before the web site gets more traffic. I have Vanilla 1.0.3 installed but when trying to install the FCKeditor extension, I got 3 error warning dialog when trying to enable the extension. 1. param: 'FCKeditor' 2. response: "FCKeditor</object></layer></span></div></table></body></html><!--adsok--> <script language='javascript' src='https://a12.alphagodaddy.com/hosting_ads/gd01.js'></script> 3. Failed to modify extension. Please help. I really like to be able to include pictures inside my forums. Thanks.

  • Might be a good idea to try installing the latest version of Vanilla manually under a separate database and location if you have that option. While the option to have hosts preload it for you is nice, it never seems to work the way you want it to. Alternately check the permission and readme of the selected add-on, you may have overlooked some settings if there were any extra things you had to do in order to get things working.
  • Appears maybe GoDaddy is trying to insert adverts into Vanilla's Ajax response? If so, that is really bad.
  • Thank you lech and WallPhone. I think the issue is definitely caused by DoDaddy's ADs so I will remove Vanilla and give Simple Machines Forum a try. Hopefully it will work better. Again thank you for replying.
  • Your call, GoDaddy is obviously stocking a stale and modified version of Vanilla so I still recommend trying a clean manual installation not using whatever panel/dropper installation they have going for them if you can. But again that's your call whether you want to try it or install SMF. Good luck.
