Req: Multiple Groups per User

edited June 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
it's not possible to assign multiple (read-access) groups to one user. i have a board with a "public" and three "groupX" (X c 1,2,3) categories. and every registered user should have read+write to "public" and read+write to one (or two) of the "groupX" categories. with only four categories, i could create groups like "group_p_1", "group_p_2", "group_p_3", "group_p_1+2" and so on... but this would be a mess... so, anyone able to writing such an addon?

  • I'm not entirely sure i understand what you wish to achieve, but have you seen the 'Category Roles' or 'Multi Roles' extensions?
  • with a first look, it seems to match. i'll invest further... thank you :)
  • hm. looks like the needed functionality. but doenst work :( i put my users in the group "members", then change groups and switch the checkbox for "group1" on. the user gets a mail with "your group has changed to 'member'" (twice!) so, the user ist still member and not member and group1
  • Hmm. Seems like there may be issues with those extensions then. It'd make more sense to see if anyone would like to fix those extensions instead of writing a new one...
