Check if user is logged in?

Hey, Does anyone know how can I check if a user is already logged to vanilla from another page rather than the vanilla files? I already managed to create a login form that logs the user successfully from and outside page, but I can't manage to use the getidentity function to work in the same way. Any ideas?
