Making categories viewable, but only special members can post?

I have a category that I want only locals (which are all in a special membership) to be able to post in. But I would also lik to be able to let everyone be able to read it.. Any way of doing that? Phizinza, offroadingsubarus.com/forum

    Only method I can think of is to allow the Unauthenticated role to take part in the category, but users would have to be signed off to read it.

    (Update: the category roles extension may do what you need.)

    Nice forum mate, just a suggestion though, in my role as the president of the R.S.P.C.A. (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to the Apostrophe).

    Your category description: "This is for general discussion of the Subaru's." has an errant apostrophe, it neither denotes contraction nor ownership only the plural, hence you are being cruel to the aforesaid innocent punctuation mark. :-)
