How to create a new add on ?

edited August 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hi, I'm nearly a newbie in PHP, but I have tried to adapt Vanilla to my needs. I was willing to put in the upper left corner the date (in French) and so I did not find (for the moment) any other solution than to "add" my code in menu.php, which is, and I understand it, not the good way. So I have on this page some code starting with : echo'<div id="Sessio2"><script language="JavaScript"> ... </div>'; I also have defined Sessio2 in my css sheet. I read the documentation about creating an add on, but did not understand everything. What shall I do to move fron this "code" to a proper Add-on ? Many thanks for your help

  • There are a few add-ons that will help you place things in different places on the page. One is Nuggets.

Nice idea. I tested that Add On. Have just one little problem : my nugget.php file is always empty, even after the creation of a nugget - and even if I put one or 2 blank lines before that creation, the file is erased and the news one is empty ( 0 ko). Any idea ? I also test Stuff Displayer and the result is better (after bypassing the style.css in that extension directory). Think will keep that one. So it's not yet today that I'm going to write my first Add on ;)
