All my images have disappeared! Help!

All my images have disappeared from client side, whilst remaining server side still. I have no idea what happened! I use attachments mod and inline images mod. I downloaded and optimised them a couple of weeks back, reloaded them and all was fine. Now, they ahve all gone from view. Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be somethign to do with gzip being tunred off on my server once? unlikely, i know but it did break css when it happened. Any thoughts will be gratefully accepted. Thanks a lot.

Have you changed the path settings? Maybe it points to the wrong location?

OK, of course. This page for example, should have a heap on it: http://www.mygarden.net.au/gardening-forum/discussion/367/things-you-see-while-rock-climbing-/#Item_0 I havent changed paths, but what I may have done was reload the packer add on. Even still, from memory they were all there afterthat. I also noticed the other day thatmy announce ment message had gone, and thata default kind of messagewas there instead. Jazzman: no, path setttings have not been changed.

..just realised also- weirdest thing- the favicon is gone now from the forum too. Not sure if this related or not.

Now images posted in the last day (that previously weren't affected) are gone too. :( [I think they went b4 i turned off the packer though.]

i still see packer enabled... it makes it difficult to diagnose the problem. i don't see any evidence of attachments in the comments in that thread at all.

I notice the announcement i put up last night has reset itself to "default announcement" again. arrrgghhhhh. Am moving to a new server to see if that doesn anything.

OK, packer is now completely disabled. Site hasn't been mvoed to new server yet. Does anyone have any thoughts pelase? Images are showing now, but only in those that have been uploaded in the last day or so. All previous ones are still missing. :)

I would check first the permissions of the older files.

All images have at least read permission, most have read / write. What should they have?

Well is there any link between what permissions an image has and whether it shows on the site?

check your LUM_Attachments database table. Do the first 6 records contain any clues? Specifically you should look at the DiscussionID, CommentID and Path fields of those 6 records. if you could copy and paste a couple of those records here it might help a lot. i have a feeling that your LUM_Attachments table was blown away and recreated at some point.

That's it! There are only 8 or so records in this table! When we were looking through the daatabase the other day, there was no atatchment table. So, somehow, the table was delted or truncated. I am wondering if this happened when someone (!) disabled either the attachments mod or the inline images mod.... is this possible that a table can be deleted like this? I am in the process of getting a table backup restored which will fix it all. Thanks for all your help everyone. Vanilla rocks.
