Installation Problems at Database entry stage

edited September 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hi there. I'm so eager to try out Vanilla as I start a new Wordpress/Personal Blog related forum. I've been dealing with databases and CPanel through TopClassost.com for 3 years so I am very frustrated that I can't make the simple instructions work to install my vanilla forum. I've gone ahead and made screen shots to show the trouble. You can find them in order at this gallery location. Just click the screenshot below to see the steps and the issues I'm having:

Basically I create a database and then it can't recognize or connect to it. I've tried so many alternate things. Anyway, I am sure you've heard all this before. You assistance is much much appreciated.

  • I guess this isn't a common problem. Maybe you should ask your hoster what's wrong there and not us.

    try creating a test.php file with content: <?php mysql_connect(.... ?>
    See "step4d" for code
  • You've got the database name and username wrong. As instructed in cpanel they need to be prefixed with rileyc_
