How to Pre-Register Users and set global Personal Information Labels?

edited September 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I'm setting up a private forum and would like to pre-register invited users and email them a secure password. Basically, I'd like to set up their user data (name, email, website, skype, etc.), and allow them to login and get going. Is there any easy way to do this? Also, how can I set up global User Account Labels and Values under "Add custom information" in Accounts ... Personal Information. I could do it manually :-) but hope to find a way to do this in a more efficient fashion.

  • Thanks. Took a look before I posted this discussion, but I assume that the Invite Only System requires the Invited Users to register themselves. This is a private forum for an environmental conference, which will be opened up to the public later on, so the idea is to populate values, etc., and just have them login and get posting. Otherwise, uniformity of Personal Information will be lacking (which is a concern since the delegates, etc., need to have everyone's info accessible).
  • No other ideas for this?
  • I believe someone was working on an extension that would allow people to enter their IM details in the reg form. While this isn't the whole story, it's possibly an answer to part of your request. I can't remember what the discussion's called though :/ Also, *you* can always preregister users and set their accounts up for them :)
