    I'd do anything if the money was right. I suppose this would have to be implemented in a similar fashion to that of a text formatter (i'm thinking about mail from the forum here - to it is *WAY* beyond me) - in which case wouldnt it need the ability to chain on to whatever formatter was in use?

    I'm also very much interested in a forum2email gateway. Like Poke Alex said there are users that like mailinglists and there are users that like forums. In my case I would like to offer both. As soon as I'm finished with the Dutch translation I'm going to have a better look at developing an F2E gateway extension.

    I know the vbulletin board used on ubuntuforums.com has something like this. There is a special category for the email posts.

    Hi Poke Alex, I think that you have to try Mailgust, that is a forum + mailinglist +newsletter software. I think that it's more similar than Vanilla to what you are searching for: each user can use Mailgust only by mail or only by web, and all still work.

    The main problem with that software is that it is free for use, but not GPL. So you can try it and if you like it, you can use it, but you can not hope in any help from a rounding community.
