Custom banner?

edited August 2005 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I wanted to insert a custom banner up top with the forum name styled in Photoshop. I noticed that the standard wave image in there is a huge 1965 x 272 gif image which is scaled depending on how wide the browser window is. I was messing around with a header image but it's always cut off. Is there a way to always have the logo inserted at a certain spot on the banner despite the browser window size?

I guess I could overlay a 2nd image using css to position the logo on top of the custom banner...

  • FYI : The image isn't "scaled", it's just relativly positioned and repeated as necessary in the form of a background image. Meaning you can throw any kind of image you want up there but you'll have to define it via CSS.

You can certainly do that with CSS, but also keep in mind that you can use the application settings form to change the "Banner title" to be whatever you want - For example, you could insert an img tag in there and link it to your banner image.
  • Thanks everyone for the tips. Mark I had no idea I could throw img tags from within the settings. I guess I should have tried that out.
